About Samara

Samara Humbert-Hughes, DMA, MBA, is an accomplished music educator, string instructor, and arts administrator with nearly three decades of experience in music education, performance, and program management. She is the founder of Samara’s Studio for Strings, LLC, where she provides private violin and viola instruction to students of all ages using both Traditional and Suzuki Methods. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes technical development, confidence-building, and creating meaningful performance opportunities through community engagement. Throughout her career, Dr. Humbert-Hughes has contributed to music education across private, public school, higher education, and nonprofit settings. She has served as an orchestra teacher with Chandler Unified School District, an adjunct instructor at the University of South Carolina School of Music, and an instructor of Suzuki String Pedagogy for graduate-level students. She currently supports youth music programs as an administrator for the Arizona State University String Project and the Youth Symphony of the Southwest, combining her educational expertise with organizational leadership. Dr. Humbert-Hughes holds a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) and Master of Music Degree (MM) from the University of Oregon, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Music Education Degree (BME) from Arizona State University. In addition to her expertise in violin and viola pedagogy, Suzuki Method instruction, curriculum development, and nonprofit management, she is also a certified yoga instructor. Her unique blend of artistic excellence, business knowledge, and commitment to lifelong learning allows her to create impactful educational experiences and contribute to the growth of music communities.
