Her Story
About Samiera
Samiera Claybrooks has built a career spanning banking and health insurance. She began in banking as the top loan producer for her company and assisted with developing a new loan system. She also worked with the vice president to start an internship program at a high school, recruiting graduating seniors and teaching interview skills along with the importance of credit and banking practices. These experiences in management and on project teams prepared her for her current role. After transitioning to the insurance field, she learned the necessary skills and advanced to become an analyst. In this position, she configures benefits, codes the system, fixes bugs, conducts audits, and handles testing. She works on several projects regularly and draws on her prior experience meeting with executives. Samiera holds an associates degree, though she attributes much of her skill development to on-the-job experience and climbing the corporate ladder. She is a certified mental health first aider with a passion for supporting the mental health community. She is a member of the National Association of Leaders and Toastmasters. Samiera attributes her success to resilience and a commitment to constant self-improvement and growth. Her core values center on family, God, and striving to be the best version of herself.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute it to being resilient, and I'm just wanting to make sure I'm constantly improving myself and growing.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell them to be patient with themselves. Say yes to opportunities that will help them to develop more skills. Build relationships with people that are also wanting to grow and succeed as well. Never stay stagnant. Always try to look for opportunities to grow and improve themselves.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There are different regulatory changes, and so we want to always make sure we are on top of any legislative changes to ensure our benefits are in compliance for our groups.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I would say family, God, and being the best version of myself.
