About Samira
Samira Amin serves as Senior Manager of Organizational and Research Operations at Arizona State University in Phoenix, Arizona. In this capacity, she leads public policy research initiatives for the Office of the President, manages day-to-day project operations with a team of student workers, delegates tasks, reviews deliverables, conducts her own research, runs hiring processes, and provides mentoring through coaching sessions and one-on-ones. Her path to this role began after moving to Arizona in 2018, when she completed AmeriCorps Public Allies apprenticeships as an engagement specialist at the Mesa Arts Center and as a grants management associate at Thunderbridge Charities. She later worked briefly in the private sector before starting as a student worker at ASU in 2022 while pursuing her graduate studies, eventually securing a full-time position and progressing through various capacities on the team. Amin is a first-generation college student who earned an associate's degree from Niagara County Community College in 2015, a bachelor's degree in urban and regional planning with a minor in sociology in 2018, and a Master's of Public Administration from Arizona State University in May 2025. She attributes her success to her family and the connections she has made along the way, values integrity, humor, connection, and equity in both her professional and personal life, and advises embracing radical acceptance as well as encouraging young women to lead with confidence without self-doubt. She sees adapting to ongoing changes such as technology and evolving student cohorts as a key challenge in her field, while viewing the opportunity to help people and make a difference as its greatest reward.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I guess just like my family and the people that I've been able to connect with along the way.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Probably to like just embrace radical acceptance.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Never doubt yourself, and always lead with confidence and know that you're capable.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges are adapting to changes like technology or the group of student workers, keeping up with things that are always changing. The biggest opportunity is to help people and make a difference.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Definitely integrity, humor, connection, equity.
