About Sandhya

Sandhya Sathya Narayanan is the Co-Founder and Executive Director for Partnership and Business Strategy at SAN R&D Business Solutions, an award-winning global IT and R&D firm where she leads the HR and staffing division. With more than a decade of experience in human resources and talent acquisition, she has built a career centered on technical and IT recruitment, working across multiple time zones to serve clients in the United Kingdom before expanding her practice through her own company, with entities registered in California and Maryland. Today, her work spans recruitment across the United States, India, and Africa, and she has placed more than 1,500 professionals while helping organizations reduce time-to-hire and strengthen their recruiting pipelines.

Beyond staffing, Sandhya has extended her expertise into HR consulting, helping startups build hiring frameworks, onboarding systems, and compliance structures from the ground up, while guiding mid-size companies to redesign and optimize their recruitment engines for greater efficiency. She is also developing an agricultural AI product in India in partnership with several universities, an initiative that earned her the Best Agricultural AI Solutions Provider award from the US-India SME Council in 2025. Sandhya holds an MBA in Human Resources from Alagappa University and a Bachelor of Commerce from Anna Adarsh College for Women, and she began her career in India before relocating to the United States to continue her professional journey.

An active member of the Women Worldwide Network, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and the Maryland Technology Council, Sandhya remains deeply engaged in her professional community while also contributing her time outside of work as a Job Coordinator for the Warm Springs Gators Swim Team. She credits her achievements to persistence, discipline, and a steady belief that consistent effort leads to recognition. Balancing her personal and professional life with clarity and a strong sense of responsibility, she continues to build both her business and her impact, one milestone at a time.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sandhya

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to persistence. Not everyone achieves major milestones overnight, and there are still days when I feel recognition hasn't yet come my way. But I hold onto the belief that the right opportunities are on their way, especially since I've already been acknowledged as an influential woman in my field. That experience reminds me that continued effort eventually leads to recognition, so I keep pushing forward until I get there.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I've received is to keep going, no matter how business is trending. There are difficult days and there are good ones, but the people who've guided me have always told me not to stop moving forward. Persistence, over time, is what eventually gets you to where you want to be.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

HR and recruitment can seem like an accessible field to break into, but I believe young women need to bring a heightened level of intelligence and a strong learning mindset, since so much of this work depends on truly understanding the people you're engaging with. My advice is to never give up, even when the path feels slow. Don't take criticism or setbacks personally, especially as a working woman — everything takes time, so keep moving forward with confidence and your head held high.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is securing that very first project or client relationship. Building trust and credibility as a new business takes considerable time, since not everyone will immediately recognize or trust a new venture. Once that first opportunity comes through, it becomes a powerful source of motivation to keep growing. Until then, the road is difficult, made even more competitive by the sheer number of recruiters and HR professionals working to reestablish themselves in the field. Landing that first major opportunity remains the defining challenge.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Balance is the value I hold most important — making sure my work and personal life don't negatively affect one another. I believe in maintaining consistency and stability, because happiness is what ultimately allows both sides of life to thrive together. Having clarity about what I want, and a clear plan for how to achieve it, is essential to running a successful business. Just as important is responsibility — owning my choices and following through on what I start. I make it a point never to leave something halfway finished; I push to complete what I've committed to, regardless of what I might gain or lose along the way.
