Her Story
About Sandhya
I initially considered becoming a doctor and worked in rural countries providing health education. I realized one-on-one care didn't reach the scale I wanted, so I pursued biomedical engineering to build medical devices. I spun my startup out of the Johns Hopkins master's program in the Center for Bioengineering, Innovation, and Design. We developed a device targeting nasal nerves to alleviate sinus symptoms like congestion and drippy nose, which has shown efficacy in early studies for the 20 million patients in the US who don't respond well to medications.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Focus on doing your best and excelling at your work rather than getting caught up in comparisons with male colleagues. Don't fall into the comparison game. Be strong and be yourself. Believe that your work is really good and make sure your output continues to be good, as mentality is everything.
