About Sandra
Sandra Ramos Claiborne is a bilingual executive accountant and Senior Director of Accounting and Controller at Goodwill Industries of San Antonio, where she oversees the organization’s accounting and financial operations. With more than 30 years of progressive accounting and auditing experience, Sandra has worked across financial services, banking, manufacturing, communications and entertainment, nonprofit organizations, and real estate and property management. Her career includes leadership roles in accounting, financial services, grants and contracts, and nonprofit administration.
Throughout her career, Sandra has developed expertise in accounting, internal and external auditing, financial reporting, budgeting, tax preparation, and financial oversight. She previously served as Director of Grants & Contracts Financial Services at The University of Texas at San Antonio, Senior Director of Client Accounting at FirstService Residential Texas, and CFO/Director of Information Services and Human Resources at Project QUEST. Sandra holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and an Executive MBA from The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Sandra credits her success to the strong work ethic and commitment to education instilled by her immigrant family, particularly her father’s emphasis on pursuing education and creating greater opportunities. She is passionate about continuous growth, setting ambitious goals, and building on each achievement to pursue new challenges. A strong advocate for education, Sandra remains actively involved with her alma mater through alumni activities, university events, and support of its football program. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, road trips, and spending time with family near beaches, lakes, rivers, and other bodies of water.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my upbringing and immigrant family background, particularly my father’s emphasis on education and hard work. His guidance inspired me to pursue education, set higher goals, and consistently strive for excellence.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering accounting to explore its many career paths, including bookkeeping, internal and external auditing, and tax preparation. Seek opportunities to work in different roles and environments to build broad experience, strengthen your skills, and discover where you can thrive.
