Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to very good mentors. If it hadn't been for them, and them showing me what I needed to do, telling me why I needed to do them, I wouldn't have ever gotten anywhere in transportation. Mel Ross really took me under his wing - he was a good man. Without those mentors guiding me and explaining not just what to do but why I needed to do it, I never would have achieved the success I have in this field.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice that I ever received was show up every day. Be a sponge and soak up everything around you. That advice has really stuck with me - the idea of being present and absorbing everything you can learn from your environment and the people around you. It's simple but powerful, and it's guided me throughout my career.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell women entering this field to hold on, you're in for a ride, but stick it out, it's worth it. The transportation industry can be challenging, especially for women, but if you persevere and don't give up, you'll find it's absolutely worth the effort. The ride may be bumpy, but the rewards and satisfaction make it all worthwhile.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge I've faced in my field is dealing with drivers who pass away in their trucks. I hate to say it, but I've had two drivers pass away in their trucks - thankfully they were both on their rest breaks, not while driving. The biggest challenge was getting them back to where they needed to be. It's one of those difficult situations you never expect to face, but when it happens, you have to handle it with care and professionalism while dealing with the emotional weight of the situation.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Honesty and integrity are the values I hold most dear, both in my professional work and in my personal life. I strive to act with transparency, responsibility, and ethical consistency in every decision and interaction.
