Her Story

About Sandra

Sandra Morema is a salon owner, master hairstylist, and emerging user-generated content (UGC) creator with more than 30 years of experience in the beauty industry. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation for exceptional client service, creativity, and professionalism while developing long-lasting relationships with clients across the Chicago area. After working in respected salon environments and spending more than a decade specializing in men's grooming, she established her own salon, where she continues to provide personalized hair care services while leading her business independently.

Sandra's professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to creativity and continuous learning. She completed her professional hairdressing education at Tricoci School of Hair and further expanded her artistic background by studying Interior Design and Fine Arts at Harrington College of Design while balancing full-time work. Her experience as both a stylist and business owner has given her valuable expertise in client relationships, business management, communication, and creative problem-solving. These experiences have enabled her to successfully navigate industry changes while maintaining a loyal client base for three decades.

Today, Sandra is preparing for the next phase of her career by transitioning into user-generated content creation, where she plans to combine her extensive beauty industry knowledge with digital storytelling and authentic brand partnerships. Motivated by a desire to continue creating while reducing the physical demands of salon work, she is building a UGC portfolio and exploring new opportunities with consumer brands. Guided by strong ethics, meaningful relationships, effective communication, and perseverance, Sandra views this transition as an opportunity to reinvent herself while carrying forward the experience and insights gained throughout her accomplished career.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sandra

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to building strong relationships, communicating openly, maintaining high ethical standards, and staying motivated throughout every stage of my career. Over the past 30 years, I have remained adaptable and willing to embrace change, whether it meant returning to the salon after raising a family, opening my own business, or now transitioning into user-generated content creation. I believe that putting people first and continually learning have been the keys to my professional growth.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is that setbacks and failures are a natural part of growth. Every challenge provides an opportunity to learn, improve, and become stronger. Success does not come from avoiding failure—it comes from getting back up, continuing to move forward, and allowing every experience to help you evolve both personally and professionally.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I want young women entering the beauty or content creation industries to understand that it is completely normal to feel nervous in the beginning. Every professional starts from the same place, and everyone experiences uncertainty while learning something new. The key is to keep practicing, continue improving, and never allow fear to stop your progress. Confidence develops through experience, so stay committed to your goals and never give up on yourself.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I currently face is the changing economic landscape. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, rising housing costs, fuel prices, and everyday living expenses have led many long-term clients to relocate from the Chicago area, making client retention increasingly difficult. At the same time, this challenge has created an opportunity for me to transition into user-generated content creation, allowing me to leverage my decades of beauty industry experience in a more flexible, creative, and sustainable way while reducing the physical demands of salon work.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide both my personal and professional life are strong relationships, honest communication, integrity, and daily motivation. I believe success begins with treating people with respect, building trust, maintaining high ethical standards, and approaching every day with enthusiasm and purpose. These values have helped me develop lasting relationships with clients and continue to inspire me as I pursue new opportunities.
