Ten minutes with Sandra
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to treating people with compassion, respect, and genuine consideration. Throughout my career, I have recognized that every person contributes to the success of an organization. Whether I was working with nurses and CNAs or members of housekeeping and maintenance, I made an effort to know people by name and acknowledge their contributions. I believe that treating everyone with equal respect helps build stronger relationships and creates a better environment for both employees and the people we serve.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women to treat everyone with the same level of respect and compassion, regardless of their position or department. In my own career, I made a point of getting to know not only nurses and CNAs, but also people working in housekeeping, maintenance, and other areas because it truly takes everyone to make an organization work. Taking the time to acknowledge people, learn their names, and make them feel valued demonstrates compassion and helps create a stronger workplace.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Compassion, respect, and recognizing the value of every individual are important to me. I believe that everyone plays a meaningful role in making an organization successful, and I try to demonstrate that by treating people equally, acknowledging their contributions, and making them feel valued.
