Sandra Zebi
Sandra Zebi is a celebrated visual artist and the owner of Zebi Designs, a studio she has led for over three decades in Marina del Rey, California. Specializing in ceramics, mixed media, murals, and functional art, Sandra has built a career blending creativity with community impact. Her work spans functional ceramics, sculptures, murals, and digital art, often characterized by vibrant colors, contemporary imagery, and a unique personal style. Sandra also licenses her designs for products ranging from home décor to textiles, expanding the reach of her artistic vision.
Trained initially in Brazil with a BA in Industrial Design and further studies in architecture, Sandra refined her craft through extensive workshops and formal education in the U.S. and London. She continued her academic journey at Santa Monica College, earning credentials in Graphic Design and Digital Art. Sandra’s approach combines technical skill, experimental creativity, and a dedication to lifelong learning, which has informed both her art and her business practices. Her works are prominently featured in public art installations, galleries, and exhibitions, including collaborations with IKEA and community arts festivals.
Beyond her studio, Sandra is deeply committed to community engagement and arts education. She has led ceramic workshops for young adults and children in Los Angeles for over 16 years and actively participates in nonprofit arts initiatives, fostering creativity and access to the arts for underserved populations. As a board member of the Venice Art Crawl and a member of a women’s art co-op, she continues to mentor emerging artists and champion opportunities for creative expression. Sandra’s philosophy centers on making art meaningful, accessible, and joyful, blending artistic excellence with generosity and community impact.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to long-term persistence and dedication. I focus on continual learning through classes and workshops, hands-on experimentation, learning business practices from the artists and studios I’ve worked with, and staying actively engaged in the community. For me, every piece I create is a combination of careful effort and decades of experience.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise them to take classes and keep practicing their craft, be present in their local arts community, and actively build their brand and market their work. Participating in community projects, donating pieces, and getting involved in shows are excellent ways to increase visibility. There is room for many artists, but sustainability comes from visibility, networking, and consistent engagement.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Selling art is challenging because it is often viewed as nonessential, and gallery instability makes wholesale work risky. However, opportunities exist through public art projects, nonprofit partnerships, community-based murals and installations, and proactive branding and marketing to reach new audiences.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value community engagement and giving back through volunteer projects and donations, generosity in supporting programs like Meals on Wheels and teen housing, devotion to my craft, persistence in my work, and creating art that is accessible and meaningful to people.
