Her Interview
Ten minutes with saphira
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my mom and my high school. My mom encouraged me to apply to this high school program, and going to that high school became a big opportunity. I became an officer for an organization and was part of another club. The atmosphere was a blessing and a help for me as a student. I still talk to teachers that inspired me and supported me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Trusting your gut and feeling ready for the step. If you're not ready maybe don't do it but also try. If you get told no or fail it's a learning lesson and opportunity for something else. In my life I've applied to many things that don't happen and then something greater happens later. Just because one thing doesn't go the way you planned it might open a door to something even greater.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take the risk or lose the chance. It might be scary and hard or bring challenges but it's a risk to take and will bring benefits. You might not get the opportunity again. Do what you think will build your career and confidence. If it doesn't go your way at least you took the risk. Go out there take the risk it might be scary but at least you're doing it and going outside your comfort zone.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Building a name for myself and a career. I am first generation working towards my bachelor's degree and the first in my family to have an associate's degree. Making my family proud especially my mom and sister. Accomplishing goals and trying new things that have never been heard before.
