Sara Carley is an insurance professional with 12 years of experience specializing in small commercial lines for small businesses. She currently leads a national department, managing a team of about 23 with three direct reports, focusing on leadership, client service, and team development. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts from Rockhurst, a Jesuit university in Kansas City, and maintains credentials as a licensed paralegal along with an associate of insurance license, standard insurance license, and an additional designation. Her career path began after pursuing law enforcement and criminal law studies, including time at the Kansas State Highway Patrol Academy, when she took a temp job in insurance and remained in the field. One notable achievement includes taking over a book of business that was 90 days behind and bringing it 90 days ahead within nine months through dedicated client service and carrier coordination.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Support at home from my husband who is 100-100 all in, and leadership and guidance from mentors like my prior boss Deb Overkamp who showed me what leadership to emulate.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
To always acknowledge accountability. I have a framed painting in my office called Accountability 101 showing a broken egg with checkboxes, and at the bottom it says yes, I broke the egg. The easiest way to resolve problems is by acknowledging, accepting, understanding, and moving forward.
