About Sara

Sara Jaquez serves as an Advisor Specialist in the Educational Opportunity Fund office at Duke College in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Since joining in 2024, she assists minority and first-generation students by providing resources, organizing her calendar to manage daily demands, and helping them navigate challenges such as imposter syndrome. Jaquez earned her bachelor's degree in public administration, public and nonprofit administration from Rutgers University, her alma mater, where she also gained work experience during her studies. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in public administration. Prior to her current role, Jaquez built experience through customer service positions and internships, including work in a high school setting. She is a member of the National Honor Society and attributes her success to the women who previously paved the way in similar roles, along with her mentors. Jaquez's long-term goal is to become a dean or university executive to ensure smooth operations that benefit students. She values honesty, community trust, patience, courage, and grit in her work, and advises young women entering the field to fight for first-generation and minority students with confidence.
