Her Story

About Sara

Sara Joseph is a Christian visual artist, author, and educator with more than four decades of experience in the fine arts. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in India, where she studied Eastern artistic traditions, and later completed an Associate Degree in Interior Design in the United States. She continued her professional development through summer watercolor courses at the Rhode Island School of Design and workshops with established artists. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Joseph works across a broad range of media, including oils, watercolors, ink, acrylics, mixed media, and polymer clay. Her work explores beauty, faith, and the creative process, with the intention of directing viewers toward the Creator. In addition to her studio practice, Joseph serves as an art teacher at Cedar Hall Classical Academy in the Bedford area, where she guides students from first grade through upper school in drawing, line, color, and art appreciation within a classical Christian education setting. She previously co-operated the Artist Showplace gallery for 11 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and is currently represented by Giddens Gallery of Fine Art. As an accomplished author and illustrator, Joseph has written and illustrated several books, including Gently Awakened, which received the Readers' Favorite International Book Award Gold Medal for Christian nonfiction and illustration. Her artwork has also been exhibited at the Faith and Liberty Discovery Center Museum in Pennsylvania for three years. Joseph attributes her accomplishments to God and considers her relationship with Jesus Christ the foundation of her life and work. She places a high value on integrity, honesty, and faithfulness, both professionally and personally. Beyond her artistic and educational pursuits, she serves as a Bible teacher at her local church and participates in outreach initiatives. Through her art, writing, teaching, and service, Joseph continues to use her creative gifts to encourage others and communicate messages of beauty, faith, and hope.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God alone. Any talent, strength, wisdom, or goodness in me is a gift He has given me, and I recognize that everything I have accomplished is ultimately made possible through His grace and guidance.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have ever received is simple: do not quit. Persevere, remain faithful, and continue trusting that the gifts, abilities, and purposes God has placed within you will be fulfilled in His perfect timing. Even when the path is difficult or progress seems slow, I believe it is important to remain patient, keep moving forward, and trust God’s plan.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the art industry is to treat art as both a discipline and a skill that requires consistent practice, patience, and dedication. Do not give up, and avoid comparing your journey or progress to that of others. The level of your skill today does not define who you will become in the future. Continue to study, practice, and refine your craft, remain committed to growth, and work toward becoming so skilled and distinctive that your talent and dedication cannot be overlooked.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Opportunities have always existed and will always exist. The challenge is knowing which are worth pursuing. The guidance of the Holy Spirit is invaluable to steer me into those which may not appear to be significant but end up being life changing.

As an artist, maintaining my unique voice, without being distracted by so many exciting changes in media and expression, is my toughest challenge. The possibilities seem endless but at any point in time, there is only ONE thing that I can expend my energies on. And only God can help me choose that one thing.

Tangible skills in physical media will eventually trump the flood of Ai art that is popular today. The hands the shaped the work, the heart that was engaged while creating, all reflect the unique voice of the artist, and is a gift that will eventually be acknowledged as worthy. Developing that voice should be the goal of every artist who continues to work in traditional media and may be discouraged right now.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are a close relationship with Jesus Christ, integrity, and honesty. I believe in being true to who He created me to be and conducting myself with authenticity, without deceit, exaggeration, or pretense. These principles guide my decisions, shape the way I interact with others, and influence how I approach both my creative work and my relationships.
