About Sara

Sara Pagano has spent about 20 years working in the non-profit education field. Her main areas of expertise include providing corporate social responsibility support and helping companies align with their ESG initiatives. One of her most notable professional achievements has been the mobilization of about 10,000 different corporate employees and volunteers into positions of give back and opportunity. Sara attributes her success to being surrounded by good people, choosing the right teams to be a part of, and being mission-driven. She values teamwork and accountability in both her work and personal life. The best career advice she has received is the power of asking, as one never knows if they will receive a yes without asking. Sara advises young women entering the field that strides continue to be made and anything is possible if they can see the goal and go for it. She notes that the field remains predominantly male-dominated, presenting an opportunity to demonstrate the impact women can have in positions of power through collaboration and teamwork.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sara

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to being surrounded by good people, choosing the right teams to be a part of, and just really being mission-driven.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received is the power of asking, because if you don't ask, you don't know if you'll get the yes or not.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell young women entering the field that we're continuing to make strides, and anything is possible. If they can see that goal, they need to go for it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The field is still predominantly male-dominated, and we're continuing to work to change that. This lends itself to an opportunity to show what women can do in positions of power, and the collaboration and teamwork that they bring to make change on much larger levels.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Teamwork and accountability are the values most important to me in my work and personal life.
