Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sarah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to my work ethic and my empathy for people. I listen to their needs and encourage them to become confident. My success has come from people coming alongside me and helping me grow so that I can help others learn and grow in the workforce.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice is to invest in your people. Results are important but you can't get those without having a great group of people behind them. The best leaders focus on developing, encouraging, and empowering.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

It's easy to feel intimidated when you might be the only woman in the room. Just have that confidence in yourself, trust your abilities, contribute in any way that you can, speak up and lead with confidence. If you put your mind to it and give it your all, you can achieve it and still be the smartest and most influential in the room.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

We have so much access to information but data alone doesn't create the value. Some people are set in their ways and not ready for change even if it makes their lives easier. People are scared of AI and automation but you have to work with it. Also having the confidence to speak up when you're the only woman in the room.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is the foundation. I want people to know they can trust me and that I'm going to follow through on my commitments and do the right thing. I also value curiosity, knowing there's always something new to learn and a better way to do something. Another value is leaving a positive impact on everyone I meet, leaving every place and person a little bit better.
