Sarah DeAngelis, CPA, CPP
Sarah DeAngelis is the founder of SageDigits Accounting LLC and a seasoned accounting leader with more than 20 years of experience helping businesses turn financial chaos into clarity. Known for her sharp insight, straight talk, and no-nonsense approach to financial truth, Sarah believes strong processes set business owners free. She doesn’t sugarcoat the numbers; she helps clients understand what they mean and what to do about them.
After years of leading accounting teams and managing complex, multi-entity portfolios, she launched SageDigits to deliver transparent fixed-fee pricing, dependable month-end closes, and plain-English guidance small business owners can actually trust. Through SageDigits, Sarah provides end-to-end accounting solutions including bookkeeping cleanups, payroll, controller and advisory services, tax preparation and planning, and smart, tool-agnostic tech stack implementation.
Her background includes senior-level controller leadership, GAAP reporting oversight, and client engagement management across fully remote teams. She is also a former Intuit Partner Council Member, where she helped shape accounting products and advocated for practitioners nationwide. Her credentials, including CPA (Georgia), CPP, and numerous advisory and payroll certifications, enable her to design efficient, compliant systems rather than simply install software.
What truly sets Sarah apart is her ability to pair technical rigor with authenticity and humor. Clients value her honesty, clarity, and the occasional colorful turn of phrase, a trait she credits to more than two decades of marriage to a sailor. Early in her career, she built a foundation in payroll, AP/AR, and reconciliations while training and coordinating hundreds of volunteers, strengthening her leadership, communication, and boundary-setting skills. Today, she’s trusted for untangling complex accounting issues, streamlining operations, and helping business owners finally feel confident in their numbers. With SageDigits, Sarah delivers truth, structure, and peace of mind without the corporate fluff.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of technical discipline, adaptability, and learning what not to do. As a military spouse, I learned to create systems that work in changing environments and to stay steady under pressure. Years of hands-on accounting experience exposed me to both strong and broken practices, which clarified the kind of firm I wanted to run. I thought it was a pipe dream, but earning my CPA gave me the confidence I needed to launch a business that reflected my values and my systems.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Outside of my mom, I didn’t receive much formal career advice that shaped my path. A lot of my growth came from observing real-world environments. I saw what worked, what didn’t, and what I refused to normalize. My mom taught me the importance of work ethic, integrity, and self-reliance, and those principles became my foundation. Everything else came from experience and holding myself to high standards.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Learn the fundamentals and don’t rush past the unglamorous work. If you can’t reconcile cash, run clean payroll, and explain how the numbers actually move through a business, the fancy stuff doesn’t matter. Don’t let software replace your judgment. Set boundaries early, protect your standards, and be willing to walk away from environments that reward overtime and quantity over quality. Confidence isn’t something you manifest. It’s something you earn.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There’s incredible technology available, but without strong processes and accounting fundamentals, it often creates more noise than clarity. At the same time, the talent gap continues to widen for professionals who truly understand the craft. The opportunity is for firms that focus on disciplined systems, sound judgment, and helping clients actually use their financial data to make better decisions.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value integrity, accountability, and respect for commitments. Do what you say you’re going to do and take responsibility when things don’t go as planned. Strong boundaries and honest communication matter to me professionally. Personally, protecting time for my family and my mental health is non-negotiable. Sustainable success only works when people are healthy, supported, and able to show up fully in both their careers and their lives.
