Her Story
About Sarah
Sarah Elliott is the Founder and Executive Director of Sarah's Sofas Ministries Inc., a faith-based nonprofit built around the mission of sharing authentic stories of redemption, healing, and purpose. Her path into ministry work grew out of a series of personal turning points, including a renewed connection to her faith and sobering experiences with her son involving fentanyl exposure, vaping, and violence at school. Those moments deepened her commitment to protecting and educating young people, and they eventually led her to leave a career in corporate sales, marketing, and healthcare to build an organization centered on service and advocacy.
Prior to founding her ministry, Elliott spent more than a decade in nonprofit program and community relations roles, most recently serving as a Medical Field Membership Consultant at ArchWell Health, where she supported Medicare Advantage provider networks for seniors. Earlier in her career she managed community outreach and event campaigns for VillageMD, earning first place in a national competition for event management, and directed training programs for a coalition of federally qualified health centers across Arizona. She holds a bachelor's degree in psychology with a focus on organizational leadership, completed an MBA program at Ashford University, and is currently furthering her business education through Augment Business School.
Today, Elliott's work centers on her From Sarah's Sofas podcast and a growing global resource hub offering Bible studies, curriculum, and leadership development tools for churches and communities abroad. She has connected with partners in Pakistan working against modern-day slavery and is planning economic empowerment initiatives in Kenya and Uganda, including an upcoming Economic Empowerment Center and future mission trips. Alongside her ministry, she serves in leadership roles at Gateway City Church in Arizona, volunteers with the Central Arizona Shelter Services, and continues to build a small, mission-driven team dedicated to amplifying voices and creating lasting change for women, children, and families worldwide.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sarah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to staying true to a small circle of people who genuinely believe in the mission, rather than chasing large numbers of followers. I've learned that authentic support matters far more than visibility, and I try to bring that same intentionality to every story and person I choose to feature.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges I see is the danger young people face today, from fentanyl exposure to vaping and school violence, issues that became very real to me through my own son's experiences. At the same time, I see enormous opportunity in expanding economic empowerment work internationally, including efforts already underway in Pakistan and planned initiatives in Kenya and Uganda, such as solar-panel installations and sustainable business programs for individuals affected by modern-day slavery.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith is at the center of everything I do, both personally and in my ministry work. I care deeply about giving people a genuine platform to share their stories in ways that educate, encourage, and inspire others, and about extending that same care to women, children, families, and vulnerable communities around the world.
