Her Story
About Sarah
I've been in education for 10 years. I started as a high school teacher, worked as adjunct faculty, and now I'm a professor. My background is in social media, and my doctorate dissertation is on social media and influencers. I teach classes on strategically communicating, handling crisis communications, and helping businesses get visible on social media. A lot of my day-to-day involves creating content for students and providing hands-on experiences because social media changes every day. I also help students get internships. Previously, I worked at a Mercedes-Benz dealership in sales, front desk, and finance, then trained nurses and doctors on patient communication in the medical field. I grew up in a dual language household speaking Spanish and English, which helps me bridge communication gaps.

Rainy days will come, dark clouds will come, but we have to remember it's a moment and we have to work through the moment. We don't live in the moment.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Find your voice and don't be afraid to use it. Women have an amazing perspective because we've had to fight for a lot of things. Teach your students they have a voice that's worth being heard.
