Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sarah

01What do you attribute your success to?

My success is attributed to my kids. I wanted to be a role model showing them what education is and where you can go in life with it. I started back to school when my oldest daughter was young because I didn't have that growing up and wanted to make sure they did.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Do what you love. As a leader, you have to learn how to do it because it can be a hard job and you can get burned out really quick, but if you really love the work that you're doing and you know it's effective, then you push through.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Healthcare is a very unique field. It's not a field that anyone should go into lightly. You really need to have the heart for it and really want to do the work for it. Make sure that if that's the field you choose, you do it with everything that you have, do it because it's something you love.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Opportunities for growth exist, but challenges include patient access metrics and burnout in the healthcare industry.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity is most important - always doing the right thing even when no one's watching. Also honesty and dependability. As a leader, you want your employees to feel they know what to do even when you're not around.
