Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sarah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I just always want to stay really humble, and I've got really great people behind me. Anytime that I am unsure about something, there's always someone to call, whether that's someone local or someone at the home office. Edward Jones is proactively training me and helping equip me for things I don't even see coming yet.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
A lot of people have told me that everyone feels like they're faking it. Especially when entering a new industry, you're always gonna feel like there's so much to know. So just having the confidence to know that you know more than you think you know. And also to lean on other people, that it's okay to not always have the answer.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
You belong here, and you are needed here. We need people who connect with all types. We need women in this field who understand where women are coming from, who share those kinds of experiences. Women are especially qualified in ways that they don't expect. Keep trying, keep working at it. It's hard for everybody, but we need you, so come anyway!
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Honesty and integrity is really important to me. That's a part of my personal faith journey, but also how I was raised. I really do want to help people and empower people. Hard work. Nothing comes without hard work. Just something being hard doesn't inherently make it wrong or a bad fit. Lots of good, excellent things are never gonna come easy.
