One of the greatest contributors to my success has been resilience. Throughout my career, I have faced challenges, change, and uncertainty that required perseverance, adaptability, and the determination to keep moving forward even when the path was not always clear. At the same time, I have learned that success is never achieved alone. I firmly believe that success is driven by people, and the trust, support, and encouragement of my family, friends, colleagues, clients, industry partners, mentors, and teams have played a significant role in both my personal and professional journey. These experiences and relationships have shaped my leadership style, provided valuable perspective, and helped me navigate challenges while staying focused on long-term goals.

By combining resilience with a genuine investment in people and relationships, I have been able to overcome obstacles, create opportunities, and contribute to meaningful outcomes. While technical expertise is essential, I believe lasting success is built on perseverance, trust, collaboration, and the strong connections that bring people together to achieve a common purpose.

If I could offer one piece of career advice, it would be to pursue work that genuinely excites and motivates you. Building a successful career requires hard work, dedication, and long hours, and it is much easier to stay committed when you are passionate about what you do. Don't be afraid to explore new opportunities, take on challenges that stretch your abilities, and follow a path that aligns with your interests and values rather than the expectations of others.

I would also encourage people not to let obstacles, setbacks, or self-doubt stand in the way of their goals. Your career will rarely follow a straight path, and some of the most valuable lessons come from navigating challenges and learning from failure. Stay resilient, be adaptable, and trust in your ability to grow through difficult experiences and build relationships as you navigate your career path. Often, the biggest opportunities are found just beyond your comfort zone, so push the limits a little but do so with respect and be someone others can trust while you also remember to take the time to learn from those around you.

For women considering careers in traditionally nontraditional or technical fields, my advice is to pursue what genuinely interests you and never let someone else's expectations define your potential. Believe in yourself, follow what you love, and do not allow perceived barriers to limit what you are capable of achieving. There may be times when you are the only woman in the room, when your confidence is tested, or when the path forward feels challenging. In those moments, remember that the very reason you are in the room is because your perspective, skills, and contributions are valued. You have earned your seat at the table, and your voice deserves to be heard.

Most importantly, do what you love. A career is a significant part of your life, and passion for your work provides the motivation to overcome challenges, continue growing, and persevere through difficult times. Work hard, stay resilient, embrace opportunities that push you beyond your comfort zone, and do not let fear, setbacks, or stereotypes stand in the way of your goals. The opportunities available today are greater than ever, and there is no limit to the impact women can have in technical, skilled, and leadership professions. As Eleanor Roosevelt wisely said, "You must do the thing you think you cannot do." That mindset has the power to open doors, build confidence, and create opportunities far beyond what you may imagine.

The energy industry is at a pivotal moment. We're being challenged to deliver a stronger, smarter, and more resilient grid while responding to rapidly growing demand and an increasingly complex energy landscape. While the infrastructure needs are significant, I believe the greater challenge is ensuring we have the people prepared to meet them.

As experienced professionals retire and the pace of industry change accelerates, developing the next generation of engineers, project managers, and leaders has become just as important as building new transmission lines and substations. For me, one of the greatest opportunities in our field is not only helping shape the future of the grid, but also helping shape the people who will lead it. Our long-term success will depend on our ability to invest in both infrastructure and talent, ensuring the industry is prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Family is the foundation of everything I do. My husband’s unwavering support has been instrumental throughout my career, and one of my greatest motivations is being a positive role model for my children by demonstrating the values of hard work, resilience, integrity, and perseverance. Professionally, I am guided by a commitment to people, strong relationships, and servant leadership, believing that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but by the positive impact we have on others.
