Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sarah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I'm definitely someone who, like I was saying earlier, a lot of what I know is self-taught, but I pride myself on that. So if I don't know something, I'm gonna find the answer. But also leaning in to people above me who've done it before. I'm big on mentorship and having some good leaders on my team.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say do it, even if it seems hard. Find people that you respect and look up to and lean into that. Always take advice from people whose life you respect and ignore the rest. It has made me have to find the answers for myself with a lot of things.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
It's a mainly male-dominated industry, same with commercial real estate. Navigating that but at the same time it's even more rewarding as I go on and hit certain milestones to be in the minority of these oil and gas and real estate before that. Working in a male-dominated industry has its downfalls but we're doing great as a company overall.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, trust, transparency, mutual respect. Integrity is a good one. There's a lot of working with investments, real estate or oil and gas, the majority of it is building trust, credibility. Meaning what you say, following through on it, we're really big on that and I make sure my work reflects that, A to Z, being professional, transparent from start to finish, and keeping our investors happy.
