Her Story

About Sarah

Sarah Sheridan serves as Manager, Executive Operations for the Rochester Red Wings, where she supports executive leadership and contributes to the organization’s business operations, marketing initiatives, game-day activities, and special events. She began her career with the Red Wings in 2023 as a Communications and Baseball Information Intern, gaining hands-on experience in public relations, media relations, and baseball communications. Following her internship and graduation from St. John Fisher University, where she majored in Public Relations with a minor in Psychology, Sarah worked at a marketing agency before returning to the Red Wings as an Email Marketing Strategist. In her current role as Manager, Executive Operations, Sarah oversees the organization’s email and SMS marketing initiatives, assists in day-to-day operations for games and events, supports overall business operations, and assists with hiring and organizational needs. Her career progression reflects her commitment to professional development, relationship building, and pursuing opportunities for growth within the sports industry. She attributes her success to the independence and self-sufficiency instilled by her parents, as well as the guidance and trust of Morrie and Naomi Silver, who first provided her with an internship opportunity and later welcomed her back to the organization. She is passionate about creating positive experiences, contributing to her community, and bringing enthusiasm to everything she does. Sarah values professionalism, positivity, consistency, and making a strong impression, particularly as a woman building a career in the sports industry. She encourages young women to approach their careers with confidence, hold themselves to a high professional standard, build meaningful relationships, and never become stagnant in their pursuit of growth and success.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sarah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong foundation my parents gave me, teaching me to be independent, self-sufficient, and willing to work hard for what I want. I am also deeply grateful to Morrie Silver, who took the time to meet with me for an informational interview, offered me an internship, and later invited me to join his team. His and his mother, Naomi Silver’s, (President, CEO & COO) trust in my abilities and willingness to create opportunities played an important role in shaping my career and reinforcing the value of believing in myself and embracing opportunities.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I have received is to never become stagnant in my career and to consistently take intentional steps toward growth. I believe in seeking out opportunities to learn, building meaningful relationships through informational interviews and networking conversations, and staying connected with people in my industry. Especially in the sports industry, relationships and reputation matter, and it is not only about who you know, but also about who knows you and the lasting impression you make.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the industry is to hold yourself to a high standard of professionalism and approach every opportunity with confidence. Believe that you belong in the room, trust in your abilities, and commit to doing your job exceptionally well. Confidence, preparation, and a strong work ethic can help you establish credibility, distinguish yourself, and build a successful career.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is the unpredictability of weather, particularly in Rochester, where rain and other conditions can significantly impact attendance at outdoor baseball games. Regardless of the circumstances, it is important to maintain a positive attitude and bring energy to the job, even when that means pulling tarps in the rain. Being a woman in the sports industry can also present unique challenges, but I have been fortunate to work under the leadership of Naomi Silver, whose success as a female president has helped demonstrate the opportunities available to women in the industry and paved the way for others.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are kindness, positivity, professionalism, and consistency. I strive to be someone others enjoy working with by bringing a positive attitude, genuine enthusiasm, and a willingness to give my best every day. I believe in holding myself to a high standard and approaching every responsibility with professionalism, integrity, and dedication. As a woman in the sports industry, I understand the importance of representing myself with confidence and setting a strong example through my work ethic and attitude.
