After years in corporate leadership, Sarah recently transitioned into running her firm full-time, bringing a highly personalized and relationship-driven approach to modern accounting. Her philosophy extends far beyond once-a-year tax preparation — focusing instead on year-round financial guidance, education, and long-term strategic planning that empowers clients to grow sustainably and confidently.
Prior to entrepreneurship, Sarah spent more than eight years in the architecture industry, serving in senior accounting leadership roles with a focus on project accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and operational efficiency. Her background combines technical accounting expertise with real-world business strategy, allowing her to help organizations make informed financial decisions that support both stability and growth. Through Bookkeep Us, Sarah has grown a thriving referral-based practice built on trust, transparency, and long-standing client relationships.

Her Interview
Ten minutes with Sarah
01What do you attribute your success to?
Hardwork, dedication and a passion for the Accounting & Tax field, goal-driven, detail oriented, team player, always eager to learn new things.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
Haste makes waste. Building something meaningful takes patience, consistency, and intention.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering business ownership to truly understand their numbers. Too often, entrepreneurs focus only on their craft and avoid the financial side of their business, when in reality, the numbers tell the full story of where a company is headed.
Take the time to review your financials consistently, ask questions, and build relationships with advisors who educate you rather than just file paperwork once a year. Understanding revenue, expenses, cash flow, and profitability allows you to make proactive decisions instead of reactive ones.
As women, we should feel empowered to lead financially, not intimidated by it. Financial knowledge creates confidence, stability, and long-term growth.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in accounting right now is the shortage of experienced professionals who understand both the technical and operational side of business. Many organizations need more than bookkeeping or year-end tax preparation — they need strategic financial guidance throughout the year.
At the same time, that creates a major opportunity for modern advisory firms. Businesses are becoming more aware of the importance of cash flow management, forecasting, tax planning, and operational efficiency, especially in uncertain economic environments.
I also believe technology and automation are reshaping the industry in a positive way. As routine tasks become automated, accountants have the opportunity to shift into more consultative and strategic roles, helping clients make smarter long-term financial decisions rather than simply reporting historical numbers.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Integrity, consistency, and growth are values I try to carry into both my professional and personal life. I believe in showing up consistently, being honest and transparent in the way I work with people, and continuously learning and improving over time.
I also value resilience and curiosity. Some of the biggest opportunities in my career came from asking questions, being willing to learn, and stepping into unfamiliar situations even when they felt uncomfortable.
Most importantly, I want my work to have a meaningful impact. Whether it’s helping a business owner better understand their finances or supporting organizations that serve communities, I believe success is most fulfilling when it creates value for others as well.
