Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sarah

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a combination of determination, a competitive mindset, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed. I’m always striving to exceed goals, whether that’s through coaching and developing my Tax Pros, conducting meaningful one-on-one conversations, or stepping in to prepare returns and support my team wherever I’m needed.

I lead with a Block Culture mindset, putting our clients’ needs first while fostering a positive, supportive environment for my team. I believe that when employees feel valued and supported, they provide exceptional service, which is reflected in both positive employee feedback and satisfied clients. Success, to me, is measured not only by achieving results but also by building a team that delivers an outstanding client experience.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Control what you can control. Show up consistently, lead by example, and focus on solutions instead of obstacles. You can’t always choose the circumstances, but you can always choose how you respond.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would encourage young women entering this industry to believe in themselves, speak up, and never underestimate what they’re capable of. There will be challenges along the way, but resilience, confidence, and a willingness to keep learning will take you far.

For women who have survived sexual abuse or other trauma, my message is simple: don’t let your past define your future. Keep going, even on the difficult days. You are stronger than you realize, your voice matters, and your experiences do not limit your potential. Your strength can become one of your greatest assets, and there is space for you to succeed, lead, and make a meaningful impact.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is balancing operational excellence with people development. In a fast-paced, seasonal business, it’s essential to meet performance goals while ensuring every client receives exceptional service and every team member feels supported, engaged, and equipped to succeed.

As a Multi-Unit Team Leader, I’m responsible for overseeing multiple offices, developing and coaching Tax Pros, managing staffing and workflow, maintaining compliance, and ensuring each location operates efficiently. Success requires adaptability, strong communication, and the ability to lead through change while keeping both clients and employees at the center of every decision.

I believe that investing in people is the key to long-term success. When employees are well-trained, confident, and supported, they provide better service, build stronger client relationships, and contribute to a positive culture that benefits the entire organization.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that are most important to me in both my personal and professional life are integrity, resilience, compassion, and a commitment to continuous growth.

Integrity guides the way I lead, ensuring that I remain honest, accountable, and consistent in my decisions. Resilience has shaped who I am, teaching me the importance of perseverance, learning from challenges, and continuing forward even when the path is difficult. Compassion allows me to lead with empathy, understand different perspectives, and support others in reaching their full potential.

Professionally, I value teamwork, accountability, and service. I believe strong leaders do more than achieve results—they develop people, build trust, and create environments where others feel valued and empowered. Personally, I strive to continue learning, growing, and using my experiences to encourage and uplift others.

Ultimately, my goal is to leave a positive impact wherever I go by leading with purpose, treating people with respect, and helping others recognize their own strengths and potential.
