What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to consistently getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have learned to embrace challenges, unfamiliar situations, and opportunities that push me beyond my comfort zone, recognizing that growth rarely happens in routine or certainty. By leaning into discomfort rather than avoiding it, I have been able to develop resilience, strengthen my decision-making, and continuously expand both my skills and confidence. This mindset has allowed me to adapt to change, take on increasing levels of responsibility, and grow into leadership opportunities throughout my career.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the insurance industry is to be intentional about building strong connections with other women in the field and to actively seek out mentors who can guide and challenge you as you grow. Surrounding yourself with people who support your development makes a significant difference in both confidence and career direction. I also encourage investing early in networking opportunities, as relationships are a powerful driver of long-term success in this industry. In addition, prioritize obtaining your professional licenses and continuing education credentials, as they open doors, build credibility, and create opportunities for advancement. Most importantly, stay curious, stay persistent, and don’t be afraid to step into spaces where you may not initially feel comfortable growth happens there.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges and opportunities in the insurance industry right now is finding the right fit within a field that offers so many diverse career paths. Insurance is not a one-size-fits-all industry; it includes areas such as underwriting, claims, risk management, sales, analytics, and leadership, each requiring different strengths and interests. For many professionals, especially those early in their careers, it can take time and exploration to discover where they truly thrive. At the same time, this variety is also a major opportunity because it allows individuals to pivot, grow, and build long-term careers without leaving the industry. Those who stay curious, seek out exposure to different roles, and remain open to change are often the ones who find the most fulfilling and successful paths.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in both my work and personal life are integrity, kindness, and honesty. I believe integrity is the foundation of trust and guides me to do the right thing even when it is not the easiest path. Kindness shapes how I interact with others, ensuring I lead with empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to support those around me. Honesty is essential in building strong relationships and maintaining credibility, both professionally and personally. Together, these values influence how I show up each day, how I lead my team, and how I connect with others in all areas of my life.
