Ten minutes with Sari
01What do you attribute your success to?
I am deeply humbled to be recognized as an influential woman, and I attribute my success to the simple practices of being authentically myself, showing up, and remaining consistent. I have learned that success never occurs in isolation; it is deeply rooted in the community and the people we choose to surround ourselves with. Meaningful relationships are at the heart of everything I do, and I believe that the secret to any lasting connection is prioritizing giving over taking. It is my firm belief that what we put out into the world eventually finds its way back to us, and I strive to lead with that spirit of generosity every day.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
While conventional wisdom suggests that a resilient woman stands behind every strong man, I have found that strength is most potent when it is reciprocal. As I have navigated my journey as an empathetic and compassionate leader, my husband has served as an invaluable pillar of support, walking alongside me as I built my career and nurtured our team. I believe that having a trusted partner who offers candid perspectives is essential; there is immense value in exchanging insights with others who understand the weight of leadership. In my heart, I view myself not as a superior, but as an integral part of a collective team. Throughout my experience as a business owner, his unwavering encouragement and guidance have been a gift, though his most profound advice remains the simplest: to trust my own intuition and believe in the path I have chosen.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would encourage young women entering my industry to recognize the value of building genuine, meaningful relationships. I consistently emphasize with my supervisors and colleagues that professional growth, personal development, and business success are all strengthened by taking the time to truly get to know people and invest in those connections. In our field, referrals and opportunities often come from people who know, trust, and respect you, so establishing a strong professional network is essential. At the same time, I believe it is important to remain authentic and allow people to see who you genuinely are. Building relationships with integrity, consistency, and authenticity can open doors, create lasting partnerships, and support long-term success.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Expanding our collective during such a challenging season has revealed the fragility of many mental health practices that have unfortunately ceased operations. While navigating the unpredictable and often daunting landscape of leadership, I have found that one must remain steadfast, trusting in their own inner compass while remaining agile enough to pivot when necessary. Instead of succumbing to anxiety or grievance, I choose to take proactive steps, leaning into the wisdom of my community partners, friends, and team members for vital guidance. In this ever-evolving climate, the ability to adapt with grace is not just a skill, but an essential virtue for those of us committed to this path.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I have long viewed our dedicated providers as a true collective, deeply valuing the synergy that arises from genuine collaboration. It truly warms my heart to witness team members gathering to consult and connect, fostering those vital relationships within our own walls just as fervently as we do externally. Beyond my professional life, family remains my most cherished priority. I believe that providing mutual support and engaging in honest, sometimes challenging dialogues are essential practices in any setting. Just as we must remain receptive to feedback and new perspectives, it is equally crucial to step away from our labors to nurture the meaningful connections that sustain us.
