Sasha Manning is a digital marketer based in Queens, New York. With expertise in sales retention lifecycle, she has spent the past one and a half to two years focused on copywriting, lifecycle marketing, branding, and product marketing. Currently at Steven Labs, a startup, Sasha was given full responsibility for the company's branding and product marketing efforts, creating the website, developing copy to match the value proposition, and simplifying complex language for decision makers. She also supports the founder with business readiness and project management. Prior to this role, Sasha worked in retail management at Apple for four and a half years, the film industry through the New York City Mayor Program, customer service at HBO Max and Discovery Channel, IT roles in finance including trading floor compliance upgrades at JP Morgan, and as an IT asset specialist at Disney Streaming. She is currently pursuing an associate's degree in digital marketing at BMCC, a CUNY college, and is considering business school afterward. Sasha volunteers as a copywriter at WeVote, where she has contributed to increasing donor engagement. She attributes her success to resilience and advises young women entering the field to get a mentor early, learn as they go, and embrace failures to accelerate growth. Sasha values surrounding herself with like-minded people focused on execution and notes that AI presents a challenge in her field, emphasizing the need for quality and intention over quantity in output.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with sasha

01What do you attribute your success to?

Probably resilience. I think you just have to keep going. You just have to be really resilient, for sure.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Get a mentor first. Don't do what I did, which was wait until you feel ready and be a perfectionist. Learn as you go, and really take the failures, so that way you can learn much faster. The faster you fail, the quicker you'll get to your goal.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

AI is a challenge because there's an influx of it leveling the playing field, but output quality depends on competency. Making sure whatever you're doing has quality and intention rather than just quantity.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Being around really good, like-minded people who are big on execution. People who are just gonna go after it and figure it out even if they don't know everything.
