About Saumya
Saumya Chowdhary is the Founder of Synapse Street and a Founding Member of The Collective, bringing a strategic and entrepreneurial background spanning economics, finance, marketing, brand development, and business operations. She founded Synapse Street to address a significant gap in the private practice market by providing specialized business solutions and infrastructure for therapists and clinicians seeking to establish and grow their practices. Her work has since expanded to support professionals throughout the broader healing and wellness space, including yoga centers, hypnotists, and meditation centers.
Before launching Synapse Street, Saumya gained experience in fintech and corporate finance, career paths that ultimately led her to pursue entrepreneurship after graduating from UCLA. Her vision was also shaped by watching her father, a pediatrician, navigate the challenges of establishing a multi-specialty practice without adequate business support and infrastructure. Drawing on her expertise in finance, marketing, strategy, and operations, Saumya now helps clinicians strengthen their brands, improve visibility, develop effective systems, and build sustainable practices that allow them to focus on their clinical work.
In addition to serving as the Founder of Synapse Street, Saumya is a Founding Member of The Collective, reflecting her commitment to entrepreneurship, collaboration, and professional community. She attributes her success to her determination to pursue a life of purpose and possibility, maximize her potential, and create something meaningful beyond herself. As the first woman in her family lineage to have access to the opportunities she has pursued, she is motivated by a strong sense of purpose and responsibility. Saumya values authenticity, humility, and maintaining a sense of joy and whimsy, and she encourages young women entering the field to remain resilient, emphasizing that consistent effort compounds over time when they continue moving forward despite setbacks, rejection, and daily fluctuations.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Saumya
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my determination to pursue a life of purpose, growth, and possibility rather than settling for a limited vision of what my life could be. I am committed to maximizing my potential, developing my character, and building something meaningful that extends beyond myself. As the first woman in my family lineage to have access to the opportunities I have, I recognize the significance of the path I am creating and remain motivated to use those opportunities to build a life and legacy that are greater than me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have received has come from my family, particularly my parents, and from the people who have reminded me of the importance of character. Watching my father, a pediatrician, build his own multi-specialty clinic had a profound influence on me. While he was an exceptional clinician, I witnessed firsthand the challenges he faced as a healthcare professional transitioning into entrepreneurship without the business infrastructure or support needed to make that journey easier. That experience ultimately inspired the mission behind Synapse Street: helping healthcare and wellness professionals focus on the work they are trained to do while providing the strategic, marketing, and operational foundation needed to build thriving practices. I was also deeply impacted by a tutor who once told me, “I hope when my daughter grows up, she grows up to be like you.” Those words became a standard I continue to carry with me. They reminded me that success is not only about what we accomplish, but also about the integrity, ambition, and character we demonstrate along the way. Ultimately, I hope to build not only a successful business but also a life that inspires others to believe they can create meaningful impact on their own terms.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: keep going. Building a business and creating something of your own is challenging and requires resilience, patience, and the ability to stay focused through the inevitable ups and downs. However, it is incredibly rewarding to see your efforts compound over time. The only way to experience that growth is to stay in the game and avoid becoming discouraged by the day-to-day fluctuations, setbacks, and uncertainties that come with entrepreneurship. Keep showing up, remain committed to your vision, and trust that consistent effort will create momentum.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is learning to navigate rejection, particularly because not every lead will convert into a client or opportunity. Building resilience and becoming comfortable with hearing “no” is an essential part of entrepreneurship and business growth. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunity in connecting with other founders and entrepreneurs, learning from their experiences, and gaining insight into how they are building businesses across different industries. Those conversations provide valuable perspectives, foster collaboration, and continually expand the way I think about entrepreneurship and growth.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are authenticity, humility, and maintaining a sense of joy and whimsy. I believe in staying true to who I am and making decisions that align with my values rather than trying to fit someone else’s expectations. Humility is equally important to me because no matter how successful I become, I believe I am no better than anyone else. Finally, I value preserving a sense of joy, curiosity, and playfulness, recognizing that success and ambition are most meaningful when they are balanced with the ability to appreciate life and maintain a genuine sense of wonder.
