Her Interview
Ten minutes with Savannah
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to dedication and determination. When I left the medical field, I let my credentials expire so there was no way to go back and I did not give myself an exit. I made sure to commit fully without an option to return.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I received was from my trainer when I started as an apprentice: just come to work, do your work, go home. Head down, grind it out, and make it work. He also said there's nothing in this shop or company that you can break that he can't fix, so get out there and try. I've held that near and dear and now tell my apprentices the same.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Take the information that's given to you and hold on to every bit of it. Any knowledge that's handed down to you, hold on to it. When people come into the industry, a lot of times they think they know it all and don't want to be told what to do, but if someone hands you knowledge, hold on to it.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Staying true to myself regardless of the situation. I'm not going to remain uncomfortable or be silent about it. I'm very straightforward. My main value is making sure that I'm okay above all. If I get uncomfortable, I remove myself and speak up immediately.
