She values honesty and ethics in the workplace, owning mistakes to learn and grow, and building strong professional relationships as an essential ecosystem for success. Sayantani advises reaching out for help rather than working in isolation and encourages young women entering tech to practice self-compassion, recognize their achievements, maintain a mindset that they are capable of anything, and remain resilient amid market shifts as new opportunities arise.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sayantani

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would attribute my success to my hard work and ambition that comes from within. As a first-generation graduate from India who moved across the globe, I pushed myself to go extra boundaries with support from my parents. I give myself credit for talking to myself, understanding where I am good at, planning my career steps clearly, and learning skills on the go. I have also learned a lot from senior leaders and stakeholders across the globe throughout my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received is to reach out for help. I used to try to do everything on my own and not bother people, but over time I learned you need an ecosystem and people to fall back on their expertise. Building relationships goes a long way and career is like building a professional family. It is important to be proactive, reach out if you have doubt, and learn new things without being stuck with what you already know, especially with AI.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would advise young women to be compassionate to yourself. Don't forget how far you have come, give credit, learn from mistakes, and have a clear mindset that you are enough and can do anything you want. Even with technology changes, job scarcity, and market shifts, new opportunities will come up, so hang on and you will do great.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

My field in the semiconductor industry is extremely competitive with the advancement of artificial intelligence. There is a lot of demand and opportunity as we are the backbone, but also a lot of pressure to meet targets fast. The challenge is keeping up with rapid changes, massive technology shifts, and delivering quickly while the company invests in new fabs and offices like New York. External factors mean everybody is trying to grab market share as fast as possible.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are honesty and being ethical in work. If you don't know something, be honest about it with no shame. Own your mistakes, learn from them, and grow. Building relationships is extremely important because you cannot go to the top by working alone. Work with people as a team, support others if someone is falling behind, and help each other.
