Sebrina Carstarphen, MBA, is a seasoned human resources and organizational development professional, business owner, author, and Chief Collaboration Officer with extensive experience spanning construction management, infrastructure, human resources, compliance, and entrepreneurship. She has built a career around developing people, strengthening organizations, and creating effective collaboration across teams. Her professional background includes nearly two decades of human resources experience, with expertise in employee relations, talent acquisition and retention, performance management, compensation and benefits, regulatory compliance, organizational development, conflict resolution, and executive support. In her current leadership role, she focuses on strengthening cross-functional collaboration, improving communication, and creating a culture in which teams can work effectively toward shared organizational goals.

Beyond her corporate career, Sebrina is an entrepreneur and author who has developed businesses in the beauty and service industries. She is a co-owner of FS Luxxe Hair Boutique, a luxury beauty company focused on hair, beauty, and empowering women, and is also associated with SS Lux Suite. Her entrepreneurial experience also includes previously owning and operating Checkmate Payroll Services, where she managed payroll processing, tax reporting, direct deposits, employee garnishments, and client relationships. She has further expanded her professional identity through authorship, including Right Where It Hurts, a healing journal. Her combination of corporate leadership, entrepreneurship, and authorship reflects a commitment to creating opportunities while encouraging personal and professional growth.

Mentorship and community impact are also central to Sebrina's work. She has served as a board member of Strengthening Her Evolution (S.H.E.), an organization dedicated to empowering young women, and has advocated for greater opportunities for young women entering engineering, civil engineering, architecture, and construction-related fields. She believes that mentorship and early exposure can help young women enter industries where they have historically been underrepresented. Sebrina attributes much of her success to her parents and three sisters, whom she describes as sources of guidance, encouragement, and accountability. Her career reflects a strong commitment to leadership, collaboration, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and creating pathways for the next generation.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Sebrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to having a strong and supportive home life. My parents taught me the importance of doing things the right way and, most importantly, being a good human being. My three sisters have also been significant mentors in my life. They pour into me, provide honest advice, uplift me, and help guide me back to the right path whenever I need it.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage young women who are interested in engineering, civil engineering, architecture, construction, and other traditionally male-dominated fields to pursue those opportunities with confidence. We need to introduce and mentor more young women into these industries. Through internship opportunities, we can give young women practical exposure, help develop their skills, and provide the guidance they need to build successful careers.
