About Sedra
Sedra Zarour is currently a student at UCSD, where she will begin her third year in September studying psychology with interests in human development and pre-medicine. Her goal is to become a neurosurgeon, and she plans to begin by shadowing doctors. She works at Soapy Joe, a car wash, while pursuing her studies. Sedra graduated from El Cajon Valley High School, where she served as a TA for a special education student, an experience that further inspired her path in psychology. She is a first-generation college student who was born in Syria, moved to Jordan due to war, and then immigrated to the United States. Sedra is part of the TRIO program, which provided her with valuable mentorship, and she holds leadership certificates from high school as well as certificates from her health program. She briefly served as a mentor herself but prioritized her studies during challenging times.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
This journey's gonna be hard, but she could do it, because anyone that did it before. They were in the same shoes as her. And they kept going until they made it to the endpoint. I'm also a first gen, and I moved from two different countries to come to the U.S, so I had also gone through so much when I was younger.
