Selene Zayas, MBA, is an accomplished healthcare leader and Practice Administrator at Florida Woman Care, where she oversees daily operations and performance across a network of OB/GYN clinics throughout the state. With over 19 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Selene has built a strong reputation for her ability to streamline operations, elevate patient care, and lead high-performing teams. Her expertise spans clinical administration, customer relationship management (CRM), and agile frameworks, reflecting her rare combination of technical knowledge and people-centered leadership.
Before joining Florida Woman Care, Selene held pivotal roles at major healthcare organizations, including Cigna, where she served as a Release Engineer, and BioSpine Institute, where she worked as a Surgical Coordinator. She has earned a Master’s in Business Administration and Management from South University and is pursuing a Doctorate in Business Administration, focusing on leadership and organizational behavior. In addition to her advanced degrees, Selene holds multiple Lean Six Sigma certifications, underscoring her commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, continuous learning, and a commitment to personal growth. Being recognized as a student leader at the MGMA Leadership Conference and making the Dean’s List while earning my BA, MBA, and now pursuing my Doctorate at South University have shown me how dedication and hard work earn respect among peers and within the professional community.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from my husband, Jensen Zayas-Melendez, who has always reminded me to never give up—his constant motivation and belief in me have been the driving force behind my growth and success.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the healthcare industry is: don’t give up—persevere through challenges, and find a mentor within the field who can guide you and help you navigate the journey with confidence and support.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Accountability, responsibility, and leadership are values I live by in my work—I take pride in helping my staff grow and advance in their careers. Personally, I value family and positivity, and I love spending time with my loved ones through movie nights or relaxing with a good book, especially from the Rich Dad Poor Dad series.
