Shalanda Cummings is an inventor, entrepreneur, and licensed realtor in the state of Texas. She invented the Moby Bath portable hygiene system, a rechargeable device with temperature control and waste management features designed to provide showers for individuals with mobility issues. Cummings has been working in the medical device field for about 10 years and holds a PCT patent with a WO number for her invention. She earned her bachelor's degree in health science from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi after serving 12 years in the U.S. Navy in construction. Prior to focusing on her device, she worked as a data analyst at MD Anderson following a car accident that ended her nursing aspirations. Cummings is also a member of several organizations including the Houston Area Urban League, Small Business Development Center, Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Regional Veterans Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Black Houston Chamber of Commerce. 01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't worry about your weaknesses, because your weaknesses will become a strength over time. If you don't know, be honest about it. Don't fake it till you make it, that's a bunch of nonsense. You have to have confidence even if you are terrified. Take a deep breath, say a quick prayer, and do what you gotta do.
