Her Story

About Shamira

Shamira Roberson has built her career over the past 8 years in the health and insurance industry. Her professional journey began when she took a position that led her into customer service, HR, and insurance work at Alike Solutions. She started in general customer service and has since been placed in various departments, where she has demonstrated the ability to master new skills quickly. Although she attended college, Roberson did not pursue a career in her field of study, instead finding comfort and opportunity in health and insurance. She describes herself as a very hungry person, meaning ambitious and dedicated to growth, which she credits for her success. Roberson notes that the biggest challenges in her field include annual changes to sales requirements and license requirements. She advises young women entering the industry to explore their options at a younger age rather than committing to a single path too early. Family remains her most important value in both work and personal life.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shamira

01What do you attribute your success to?

I am a very hungry person, meaning ambitious and dedicated to growth.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Explore your options at a younger age. I would definitely explore my options at a younger age. I wouldn't subject myself to just one deal because you never really just know. Originally I've been in insurance for years but I never experienced being a licensed insurance agent until later in my age. I feel like I should have explored more. Maybe I would have been further.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge right now in my field is probably the annual changes, the sales requirements and license requirements, so every year it kind of changes for me.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family.
