What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to some truly transformative experiences, including my work with Google and their A.I. team on the latest version of Gemini. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors, like Velma Jenkins, my elementary school principal, and Paul Tutt, a lifelong friend who has always supported me. Their guidance and encouragement have shaped the way I approach both my career and life.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received has always emphasized perseverance and believing in your abilities, though I think the mentors above have given me the most impactful guidance through their example.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the tech industry is simple: Do it! There is a large demand for women in tech, and your perspective is needed. Don’t let hesitation hold you back—jump in, learn, and grow.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was deciding to start a family at a young age. Balancing career ambitions with personal life required difficult choices, but it ultimately strengthened my resilience and commitment to both my work and my loved ones.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values I hold most dear in both my personal and professional life center on caring for those around me. I practice a servant leader mentality, ensuring that I uplift and support my colleagues, family, and community. Last year, I started a foundation called Eye Am Light to give back to women who faced similar circumstances growing up, and it has been one of the most fulfilling parts of my journey.
