About Shandrika
Shandrika Odom is an education, tutoring, and youth development professional who founded Children United with Ms. B in 2019. The nonprofit offers private tutoring services to students across Franklinburg, Cabarrus, and Rowan counties in the Charlotte and Kannapolis, Concord area of North Carolina. Odom also partners with local GED programs to extend academic support to adults. Her work began as a volunteer assisting with games and homework at organizations including the Salvation Army and Boys and Girls Club, which inspired her to create a dedicated foundation providing accessible educational redirection and learning support outside the classroom. With approximately 10 years of experience in the field, she continues her career as a teacher while managing the nonprofit, emphasizing student confidence-building and community resources for families.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Go for it. Lay out your plan because things start off as words on a piece of paper, ideas, dreams. Work through it each day, pick up where you left off, flow with it through high and low moments. Use low moments to reflect, pray, and breathe so you can bring lessons learned back up when things are high again. Trust and believe that you can do it because it's already been done.
