Shanice Berry Shivers

Shanice Berry Shivers is a multifaceted professional and entrepreneur based in Stockton, California, blending her passion for food, education, and community service into a dynamic career. She is the owner and operator of Soul Fully Loaded, a soul-food and baked-goods business specializing in pies, cookies, peach cobbler, and banana pudding. Her cooking reflects a deep connection to tradition and creativity, as she balances the heart of soul food with healthier choices, such as using smoked turkey tail instead of pork. Shanice’s culinary approach combines precise techniques with intuitive flair, resulting in dishes that are both comforting and thoughtfully crafted.

In addition to her culinary endeavors, Shanice is the founder and co-owner of Affiliate Tax Solutions, where she provides tax preparation and small-business services while actively building the company’s marketing and social media presence. She also dedicates her professional life to education, working full-time as a paraprofessional supporting K–2 students with moderate to severe autism. In this role, she provides essential classroom support, including toileting assistance, supervision, elopement prevention, and organizational guidance, while also serving as a union steward for her local chapter of the California School Employees Association (CSEA).

Shanice’s commitment to service extends beyond her professional work. She is an active volunteer with Greater White Rose Church in Stockton, assisting the president of the Sunshine Department, and supports the community through organizations like Save Our Kittens. With formal training in medical administrative assisting, CPI, CPR, and First Aid, as well as education from San Joaquin Delta College, Shanice combines skill, heart, and dedication in all she undertakes—whether nurturing her students, delighting her community with soulful dishes, or helping clients navigate financial services.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the deep passion and love I have for cooking and nourishing others. I cook straight from the soul, finding joy in creating meals that bring comfort and connection. Baking—especially pies, cakes, and other desserts—has always been a source of creativity and fulfillment for me.

I also credit my success to my mother. When she was injured while I was six years old, I was drawn into the kitchen at a young age. That experience shaped my skills, resilience, and appreciation for cooking as both a craft and an expression of care.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is: “You can, and you will, cook from the heart and soul.” It reminds me to stay true to my passion, infuse every dish with care and creativity, and let authenticity guide my work in the kitchen.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is simple: You can achieve anything you set your mind to. Find what you truly love, because when your work aligns with your passion, it doesn’t feel like work—it becomes a source of joy and purpose. Let that passion guide you, and it will fuel both your growth and your success.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges I face in my field is getting my business noticed in a crowded market. I balance caregiving for my mother, managing three professional roles, and working with limited resources—all while striving to expand my brand beyond word-of-mouth. At the same time, opportunities like being featured in Influential Women provide a valuable platform to increase visibility, build professional credibility, and connect with a wider audience.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most, both in my work and personal life, are hard work and perseverance. I believe in giving my best effort in everything I do and never giving up, no matter the obstacles. These principles keep me focused, resilient, and committed to achieving my goals while staying true to myself.
