Her Story
About Shanna
I am a professional network marketer with Planet Marketing in the travel industry, approaching my third year in this field. This is my first time as a professional network marketer, though I bring 19 years of experience from the medical field where I worked as a certified nurse assistant in hospice care. What I love most about what I do is helping individuals personally develop and build confidence. Many of the people I work with come in with low confidence, shy and scared, and that's where I was too. I help them blossom and grow as they start their own travel businesses. I've achieved recognition within Planet Marketing, reaching the Top of the Builders program, and I hold specialist certifications from major travel suppliers including Disney, Carnival, and American cruise lines. I'm also a published author - my book 'From Struggle to Sprint' is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. I wrote it while building my business, gaining the confidence through my mentors to finish and publish it. My work connects my passion for changing lives in a different way - now I'm helping families change their lives across the board by building multiple streams of income and creating legacies that outlive us.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shanna
01What do you attribute your success to?
I am definitely going to be rich - I have tunnel vision about that. I'm going to be rich not only financially, but mentally, physically, and emotionally wealthy. That mindset and determination is what drives my success. I know where I'm going and I'm focused on getting there with complete certainty.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I ever received came from Mr. Bradley. He told me it's always about your time and the freedoms you want - financial freedom, personal freedom, and time freedom. We all know how much money we have, but we just don't know how much time we have left here to actually spend and enjoy these freedoms. He told me that you have to go after what you desire. That really sticks with me - you have to go after what you desire. He's mentioned so many other things to me as well, but that message about time and going after what you want is what stays with me the most.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Life is too short - you really have to do what makes you happy, and you've got to do it now. You don't have time to wait. Think about it like this: what if the doctor said you had about 6 months to live? Or what if somebody told you they had your child and you needed to come up with $20,000 right then? You're going to find ways to get that $20,000 because that's important to you. That should be your why coming into this opportunity. When you have that kind of urgency and purpose, then you will get far. Don't procrastinate - this is a perfect opportunity for millennials and Gen Z who already don't want to work for nobody. This is an opportunity for them to actually build something for themselves with longevity.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge is people. I come across different styles of learning, and I've gone through a whole lot of people in this opportunity. People can be challenging because they often expect things to happen overnight or fall in their lap yesterday, when the reality is we can spend about 4 or 5 years building our own legacy instead of working 40 years to build other brands and teams. As for opportunities, travel is never going to go out of style. Everybody travels, everybody wants the perks and all the good stuff. This is a trillion dollar industry, and we don't need no inventory, no quotas or anything - it's just something that people want to do anyway.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Family is most important to me - most definitely family. And not just my family, I look at other people's families and situations too. I'm connected to my business partners as far as family-wise. Some of them actually work this opportunity through the hospital bed, to be honest. One of my business partners didn't even have a space to work her business, so she would put the filter on in the back and she'd be in her bathroom. People doing it in the car, being homeless - and now some are six-figure earners. It's about bringing families together. If you have people backing you up, you can do anything really. That is the biggest thing - if you have people standing there with you and cheering you on, that is powerful stuff.
