Her Story

About Shannon

I believe our greatest challenges often become the foundation for our greatest strengths. My journey has been shaped by resilience, perseverance, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Raised by my grandparents after experiencing adversity early in life, I learned the importance of hard work, compassion, and creating opportunities rather than waiting for them.

Today, I work in business operations at CDW, where I focus on sales operations, process improvement, analytics, and helping teams work more efficiently. I enjoy solving complex problems, building strong relationships, and finding ways to make a meaningful impact through collaboration and continuous improvement.

While working full-time and raising two children, I returned to college and earned my bachelor’s degree in Digital Audiences from Arizona State University in 2025. That experience reinforced my belief that it’s never too late to pursue your goals and that growth happens when you’re willing to step outside your comfort zone.

Outside of work, I’m passionate about sports, photography, media, travel, and creating meaningful experiences with family and friends. Whether I’m cheering on my favorite teams, exploring a new city, attending a concert, or capturing moments through a camera lens, I value opportunities to connect, learn, and create lasting memories.

My purpose is to encourage others—especially women—to believe in themselves, embrace new opportunities, and never let their circumstances define their future. I hope my story reminds others that resilience, determination, and a willingness to keep moving forward can open doors you never imagined possible.

Ten minutes with Shannon

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to resilience, the unwavering support of my grandparents, and a belief that growth is a choice. They taught me that integrity, hard work, and kindness matter, and they showed me what it looks like to keep going even when life is difficult. Their example gave me the confidence to believe I could build a different future for myself.

I also believe success comes from being willing to bet on yourself. Returning to college while working full-time and raising two children wasn’t easy, but I knew education would create opportunities that could change my life and the lives of my children. Every challenge became a chance to learn, adapt, and grow.

Throughout my career, I’ve learned that relationships matter just as much as results. Building genuine connections, seeking mentors, saying yes to new opportunities, and continuously learning have helped me grow professionally and personally. I’ve never been afraid to start over, ask questions, or step outside my comfort zone.

Most importantly, I attribute my success to perseverance. I’ve learned that success isn’t about having a perfect path—it’s about continuing to move forward, even when the road is uncertain. My experiences have taught me that where you begin doesn’t determine where you can go. With resilience, determination, and the courage to keep showing up, incredible things are possible.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve ever received is to never stop investing in yourself. Skills can be learned, opportunities will come and go, but your willingness to grow, adapt, and keep learning will always set you apart.

I’ve also learned that relationships matter. Your reputation, how you treat people, and the connections you build can open doors that a résumé alone cannot. Be willing to ask questions, seek mentors, and say yes to opportunities that stretch you beyond your comfort zone.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Believe in your abilities before you feel completely ready. Confidence doesn’t come before taking on new challenges—it grows because you’re willing to take them on. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, speak up, and take on projects that push you outside your comfort zone.

Invest in yourself by continuously learning, whether that’s through formal education, certifications, mentorship, or hands-on experience. The workplace is constantly evolving, and those who remain curious and adaptable will continue to grow.

Build genuine relationships and protect your reputation. Your network, work ethic, and integrity will often create opportunities that your résumé alone cannot. Seek mentors, support other women, and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself and your accomplishments.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in business operations and the technology industry right now is the rapid advancement of automation, artificial intelligence, and data analytics. These tools are transforming how organizations make decisions, improve efficiency, and deliver better experiences for both employees and customers. Professionals who are willing to embrace new technology and continuously develop their skills will have tremendous opportunities for growth.

At the same time, one of the biggest challenges is keeping up with the pace of change. Technology evolves quickly, and organizations need people who can adapt, think strategically, and lead through change. Technical skills are important, but so are communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and emotional intelligence.

I also believe there is a growing opportunity for women to lead in technology and business operations. Diverse perspectives drive better innovation and stronger business outcomes. As more women step into leadership roles, mentor others, and advocate for inclusion, they’re helping shape a more collaborative and forward-thinking industry.

For me, the future belongs to people who are curious, adaptable, and committed to lifelong learning. Those qualities will always be valuable, no matter how technology continues to evolve.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values that guide me most—both professionally and personally—are integrity, resilience, continuous learning, and compassion.

Integrity is the foundation of everything I do. I believe in doing the right thing, being accountable for my actions, and treating people with honesty and respect. Trust is earned through consistency, and I strive to build that trust in every relationship.

Resilience has shaped my life. My personal experiences taught me that challenges don’t define us—how we respond to them does. Every obstacle has strengthened my determination, adaptability, and appreciation for growth.

I also believe in being a lifelong learner. Whether it’s earning my degree, developing new skills, or embracing emerging technology, I’m always looking for ways to grow. I believe that staying curious and open to change is essential for both personal fulfillment and professional success.

Finally, compassion is at the heart of how I lead and live. I believe everyone has a story, and leading with empathy creates stronger teams, deeper relationships, and a more positive environment. Supporting others, celebrating their successes, and helping them reach their potential is just as meaningful to me as achieving my own goals.

These values influence every decision I make and remind me that true success isn’t measured only by accomplishments—it’s measured by the positive impact we have on the people around us.
