About Shannon

Shannon Ferry serves as an Investment Advisor with Fidelity, assisting clients with retirement planning, goal achievement such as buying a house, TaxSmart investing, and legacy planning from a holistic perspective as a fiduciary. She joined Fidelity two years ago on the client services side before moving into her current advisory role, bringing experience from six and a half years in internet car sales at a Toyota dealership. Shannon holds Series 7, 63, and 66 licenses, an MIT Leadership Certificate, and a Toyota Master's Certification, and she has some college credits but no degree. She credits her success to her empathy and an attitude of never giving up while working as hard as possible, and she values family, mental health, and putting herself in others' shoes. Shannon advises knowing one's worth and encourages young women entering finance to go for it with confidence.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Shannon

01What do you attribute your success to?

My empathy is super important, and just my attitude to never give up. I didn't let anything get to me, I just worked as hard as I could.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Know your worth. Don't let anyone tell you what you're worth, because you know your worth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just go for it and be confident, because they can do anything. If I can do it, they can do it.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Everyone is different so making sure I really understand everyone's needs specifically to cater to their financial goals is a challenge. Opportunities include more people becoming aware of investing and retirement accounts, allowing me to provide education and clarify misinformation.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Family. My two kids. My mom and my dad are huge. Mental health is huge. Empathy is huge. I always try and put myself in other people's shoes.
