About Shannon
Shannon Holliday is the Administrative Support Assistant to the Associate Dean for Equity and Inclusion in the Ross and Carolinese College of Nursing at Penn State University, where she also supports the Associate Dean in his role as President and CEO of the National Black Nurses Association. She has been in this position for close to four years and brings more than 35 years of experience in administrative support and communications roles across corporate, nonprofit, and academic settings. Holliday earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Kaplan University, graduating cum laude with a 3.6 GPA, after attending Dillard University for two years, and she is a Pennsylvania Board Certified Community Health Worker. She maintains active memberships on the Ferguson Township Planning Commission, serves as Judge of Elections for Ferguson Township Precinct 49, and participates on the State College Community Land Trust Outreach and Development Committee, the Bridge of Hope Centre County Board, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Advisory Council, and the American Red Cross. Her volunteer work includes administrative support for the American Cancer Society, community volunteer leadership for the Centre County American Red Cross, and serving as the first Centre County social justice ambassador. Shannon is a member of multiple honor societies, including the Golden Key International Honour Society, Lambda Pi Eta Honor Society, National Society for Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Beta Kappa at Kaplan University, and most recently the Tri Alpha First-Gen Honor Society at Penn State University.
When not working and being an avid volunteer, Shannon spends her time with one of her 3 daughters, video chatting with her other two daughters, her mother and family who live in her native hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana, and in Houston, Texas, with her 3 grandbabies, and relaxing with their two cats, Titan and Grizzly.
