About Shannon
Shannon King serves as Senior Vice President of Managed Services at GuideHouse, where she manages client engagements and provides interim leadership for revenue cycle teams at large health systems. With 38 years in healthcare, all spent in revenue cycle, she started in patient access roles including registration, insurance verification, and financial counseling before advancing to divisional leadership and broader operational oversight of front, middle, and back office functions. King spent time on the vendor side and operated her own successful consulting firm from 2010 to 2020 before returning to the provider space. She earned a bachelor's degree in health and healthcare administration in 2019 and maintains certifications in all EPIC modalities as well as life coaching, which she uses to mentor and strengthen teams. A longtime HFMA member for over 25 years, King chairs the Arizona market board and hosts the chapter's annual women's conference, now in its 14th year, drawing hundreds of attendees from the healthcare sector. She is also involved with NAHAM and emphasizes building strong networks, fostering vulnerability in leadership, and remaining open to change and constructive criticism.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Be open to change and constructive criticism. Take advantage of opportunities that may not seem ideal because they help you grow. Move forward with vision, be graceful, vulnerable, and humble. Never step on shoulders to get to the top.
