Her Story
About Shannon
Shannon Millen has been in education since 1998, starting as a science teacher at the junior high school she attended. She progressed through administration roles including assistant principal while earning her master's degree in education administration and completing her PhD in higher education administration. After working as an aeronautics adjunct professor, she moved into a full-time professor position in aeronautics at the college level. Millen holds a commercial pilot certificate and owns her own airplane, having begun flying in 2013 to overcome a fear of flying. Her background also includes competitive motocross and off-road racing in her earlier years before shifting focus to education and aviation. She attributes her success to a lifelong competitive drive and determination to finish what she starts, pushing herself fully in every endeavor.

01What do you attribute your success to?
My drive to succeed and be the best I can be, competitive nature from childhood, always wanting to finish what I start and push myself 110 percent whether in racing or education.
