Before becoming a business owner, Shannon built a diverse career in education, behavioral therapy, and early childhood development. She worked as a teacher, behavioral therapist, referral coordinator, and robotics instructor, gaining valuable experience supporting children of all ages, including those on the autism spectrum. After several years teaching with Techie Kids Club, she expanded her role by acquiring her own business territories, where she now manages school partnerships, oversees business operations, and develops programs that connect technology with creativity and real-world learning. Her background in applied behavior analysis and early childhood education enables her to tailor engaging learning experiences that meet students where they are while encouraging them to think independently and embrace challenges.
Shannon is currently pursuing her bachelor's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at Capella University and also holds associate-level education in Early Childhood Learning and Communication Sciences. A Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), she continues to combine her expertise in education and behavioral science with her passion for technology and entrepreneurship. Shannon attributes her success to the guidance and encouragement of her fiancé, whose mentorship has helped shape her journey as a business owner. Guided by the value of patience in both her professional and personal life, she is also active in women's networking organizations and leads a monthly networking group for women entrepreneurs throughout the Austin area, where she enjoys building meaningful connections and supporting the success of others.
Her Interview
Ten minutes with Shannon
01What do you attribute your success to?
My fiance helped me make the decision to become a business owner carrying school relationships in the fragile education system by laying out different avenues pros and cons so I went with what he thought I would be best in and now I am thriving.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
You never have enough knowledge in business management. You never have it all figured out. It takes experience and time and knowing the relationship of your market and how it ebbs and flows. You have to be very humble and listen to the advice given to you.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Confidence is key especially in education and tech sectors. Make sure you have confidence and are sure you know what you are doing. Have a couple of business mentors to run big ideas through and maintain that confidence with support circles.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Money is a big challenge in education because parents want the best for their kiddos but sometimes programs are not reachable due to financial barriers. Tracking relationships and market value every day is a feat but there are ways around it especially in education.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Patience is needed throughout your personal life and professional life especially as teachers working with kids whose stories can be impactful.
