Shannon Susan Rudowski
Shannon (Susan) Rudowski is a seasoned travel consultant, writer, and former telecommunications executive whose career reflects both depth of expertise and a passion for meaningful connection. Currently working with Carlisle Travel Management, a branch of Tzell Travel Group, she helps clients plan business and leisure travel with a consultative, one-on-one approach rooted in clarity, honesty, and trust. After years of restricted movement during the pandemic, Shannon embraces travel as a form of freedom and curiosity, guiding clients who are ready to explore the world with confidence and ease.
Before entering the travel industry, Shannon spent decades in telecommunications, rising to a director-level role and building a strong foundation in technical writing, competitive intelligence, and regulatory reporting to agencies such as the CPUC and FCC. That background sharpened her analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to translate complex information—strengths she now applies across consulting, account management, and client service roles. Alongside her travel work, she continues to pursue writing projects, including books and memoirs, drawing on a lifelong commitment to storytelling and problem-solving.
At this stage of her career, Shannon prioritizes balance, creativity, and momentum over rigid corporate structures. Whether she is booking travel, mentoring others, or writing, she brings a warm, supportive energy and a belief in meeting people where they are—offering guidance when it’s wanted and space when it’s not. Her journey reflects a thoughtful evolution from corporate leadership to purpose-driven work that keeps her, as she puts it, “in the flow.”

What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to clear communication, strategic thinking, and a consultative approach that I developed during my time in competitive intelligence and as a director in telecommunications. I apply these skills to my work in travel consulting and writing, while being intentional about designing a career that aligns with my creativity, energy, and desire for autonomy.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve received came from leaders and colleagues in telecommunications who taught me the value of strategic thinking, clear communication, and confident leadership—lessons that guided me as I transitioned to independent consulting and travel work.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women to stay open to evolving their careers and to design paths that align with their strengths and energy. Embrace transferable skills like communication, research, and strategic thinking, and build a work structure that supports creativity, wellbeing, and long-term growth.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in the travel industry is standing out in a crowded market while maintaining personalized, high-touch service. At the same time, there’s a great opportunity for professionals who combine consultative expertise with strong communication and curation skills, and for building flexible, portfolio-style careers that integrate travel, consulting, and creative work.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are autonomy, clarity, and balance. I prioritize honest communication, thoughtful planning, and designing a professional life that allows space for creativity, meaningful work, and personal fulfillment. Outside of work, I’m passionate about travel, writing, and caring for animals, and I make time to nurture both connection and reflection in my daily life.
