About Shannon

Shannon Strombeck serves as a Juvenile Court Officer in Davenport, Iowa. She entered the field after her own experiences as an at-risk youth involved with the juvenile justice system, motivated by a desire to support others facing similar challenges and to address systemic barriers such as poverty, discrimination, and racism. Her professional journey began with five years as a Student Support Liaison in the Davenport Community School System, followed by nearly two years as a Mobile Crisis Counselor at Foundation 2 Crisis Services and three years as a Certified Addictions Counselor. She attributes her success to her lived experiences, perseverance, grit, continuous learning, and adaptability, which have fostered skills in empathy, compassion, and teamwork across school, substance use, and crisis intervention settings. Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration with a minor in Psychology, graduating cum laude, and is pursuing graduate studies in counselor education with an emphasis on clinical mental health. She maintains certifications as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) and in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills and Training. Her areas of expertise include crisis intervention, advocacy for access to education, healthcare, and safety, and working with at-risk youth.

My lived experiences, perseverance, grit, continuous learning, and willingness to adapt and grow from every experience. Taking skills from working in schools, substance use, and crisis intervention has helped develop empathy, compassion, and teamwork.
