About Sharla
She is a distinguished legal leader and prosecutor with over 25 years of experience in criminal justice, domestic violence and sexual assault prosecution, and community-based crime reduction strategies. Currently serving as Senior Manager of Legal Services at the Prosecuting Attorneys' Council of Georgia, she provides legal expertise and leadership in domestic violence and sexual assault prosecution, serving as a Resource Prosecutor for prosecutors across the state. Prior to this role, she spent 15 years in the Fulton County District Attorney's Office as Senior Assistant District Attorney, where she served as Director of the Fulton County Regional Auto Theft Task Force and successfully prosecuted over 300 defendants. She was Vice-Chair of the Georgia Retail Association Loss Prevention Council and co-drafted the "Georgia Smash and Grab Act," signed into law in 2010. She also implemented the Citizen's CourtWatch program, resulting in increased sentences for repeat offenders, and tried homicide and complex felonies with a 95% conviction rate. Throughout her career, she has partnered with community organizations, law enforcement, and businesses to implement anti-crime initiatives and has served as a translator for Spanish-speaking victims of crime. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Spelman College. She is recognized as a passionate, tenacious, and community-centered prosecutor and legal leader who has dedicated her career to seeking justice, protecting vulnerable populations, and strengthening public safety through innovative, collaborative approaches.
